Fort William
The town at the end of the West Highland Way, the beacon for many a weary walker. I think most people will have done some form of trip to this highland town. We visited when we were quite young with Kate remembering partaking in her favourite pastime of bollard jumping along the street.
It’s a popular stop for anyone making a journey north to Inverness with loads of things to do in the area. If you want a low key event then you can visit the distillery or have a wander round town. For the more adventurous then what else would you do except conquer Ben Nevis and take in the stunning landscapes - the highest mountain in the UK. So far we’ve just looked at it and admire the sheer size. We might climb it one day..maybe.
From Fort William you can board the Jacobite express, over the Glenfinnan Viaduct and up to Mallaig. It’s a hugely popular trip on a proper steam train. It was also used in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, when Ron and Harry were chasing the train in the flying Ford Anglia.
